My name is Robert Bowles. I qualified as a STGA Blue Badge guide in 2010. I am also qualified as a guide trainer/mentor/assessor and I am currently working as a mentor on the current Blue Badge course. I am the only native Scot to be qualified to guide in Russian. I do all sorts of guiding; one person on foot, forty people on a coach from a cruise liner, driver guiding, extended tours, ancestral tourism are just a few examples. My particular interests are castles and ancient historical sites, lochs and mountains and also I am passionate about the town of Paisley, being a native.
I can also do driver guiding and provide a suitable fully insured vehicle for up to eight passengers. I have had thirty years of experience working in driver testing and training for the Department of Transport. I am also a qualified First Aider, though please don’t expect major surgery, or even minor surgery! We strongly recommend you to have travel insurance. I also have professional indemnity insurance.
My hobbies are hill walking, painting and drawing, sculpture, reading, sailing and I am interested in dowsing, Russian language and culture. I love travel throughout Scotland and the Former Soviet Union.
